1. Our commitment

Empowerment Thru Spoken Word Poetry - TAPN2U is committed to making our digital presence and our in-person programs accessible to people with disabilities. Accessibility is not an afterthought — it is part of our mission of empowerment and inclusion.

2. Standard we follow

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines describe how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities — visual, auditory, motor, cognitive, and beyond. We also align our practices with the principles of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

3. Measures we have in place

• Semantic HTML structure with clear heading hierarchy for screen readers.
• Descriptive alt text for meaningful images.
• Color-contrast ratios designed to meet WCAG AA on all body text.
• Visible focus indicators for keyboard navigation.
• Full keyboard operability — every interactive element can be reached without a mouse.
• Respect for the prefers-reduced-motion system setting — animations are reduced or removed.
• Forms with labels, helper text, and clear error messages.
• Mobile-responsive layouts with text that scales without breaking.
• Aria-live regions for status updates and form notices.

4. Known limitations

We're continuously improving. Areas we're actively working on:

• Captioning and transcripts for video performances published on social platforms.
• Higher-contrast theme variant for users who need it.
• Additional language support beyond English.

If you find a barrier we haven't listed, please tell us (see Feedback) — we treat reports as priority work.

5. In-person programs

For workshops, performances, and community gatherings we coordinate venues that are wheelchair-accessible whenever possible. We provide:

• Large-print materials on request.
• Quiet seating areas during sensory-heavy moments.
• Sign-language interpretation where notice is given (please request at least two weeks in advance).
• Accommodation for service animals and personal support persons.

Anonymous reports are welcome. We respond to every accessibility report within five business days and follow up with a plan and timeline.
